Sometimes, the most rewarding home projects can be the small pieces that affect everyday life. Coat hooks might not be the sexiest project, but come winter you’ll be getting use out of them daily. Ben Schmanke makes it easy, like he always does.

For our 8′ coat hook shelf we used the following materials:
1 – 3/4 x 5-1/2″ (aka 1×6) x 96″ poplar, top shelf
1 – 5/4 x 9-1/2″ x 96″ poplar, rear cleat, cut for crown wrap around
1 – 4-1/4″ x 108″ poplar crown moulding
1 – 96′ length of decorative trim moulding, 3/4-1″ thick
11- coat hooks (style and finish may vary)Feel free to change the material list accordingly to the overall length of your shelf.
